Chef Pemba Lama
Ex-Gurkha chef and world-renowned cookbook author
My name is Pemba Lama and I’m a very proud ex-Gurkha soldier. I served in the British army for 23 years, as a Regimental Chef. I now teach catering and related subjects to the Armed Forces Chefs as well as performing Master Classes in Ethnic Cookery for numerous clients.
Working as a chef and culinary tutor for the majority of my career has enabled me to experience many different cuisines, some from the army and many from childhood and past knowledge from being exposed to various foods within different cultures. These experiences lead me to collect and develop new recipes and methods that are simple and easy for anyone to follow.
We wanted to create a first class, quality book so we used the best cameramen, the best designer we could find and found a lovely studio to create the mouth-watering images to sit beautifully alongside the written recipes. The unique The Ultimate Nepalese Cook Book was finally published in February 2012.
